About 5th Grade Social Studies
Q: What will my child learn in 5th grade SS?
A: 5th grade SS is American history from the late 1800’s - 2000’s. We begin with the Reconstruction period (the time after slavery was abolished) in America and continue through all events (good and bad) until we reach presnt-day America.
Q: How do I prepare my child for SS tests?
A: Students will be given notes for each standard & topic. They will also make foldables, complete maps, and create timelines that will help to study. A: We will have 1 project per semester (1 before Christmas break & 1 after Christmas break) relating to a standard/topic that was taught. More information will be sent home.
